Harley Davidson Wheels Buying Guide

When somebody buys a Harley Davidson motorcycle one of the first things a new owner focuses on is Harley Davidson Wheels.

This change can be for performance or strictly cosmetic purposes. It may be included in a trim package at the time of sale, or it will be done when he has the money saved up for it, but the time for it will come.

Whatever your particular emphasis may be here are some tips to help you choose your very own pair of harley davidson wheels.

The Look of Harley Davidson Wheels

There are a lot of reasons to change the wheels for cosmetic purposes, such as you bought an older bike and want to make it look more authentic.

You can use bare-metal finishes or alloy wheels, but you do have to seal them with wheel covers or paint. They will last from 3 to 5 years before they usually start to corrode if treated in this matter.

They are able to make more intricate designs from alloy, whereas the steel usually has to be cut from sheet metal and welded together, often leaving unsightly bumps. The steel wheels need to be painted or covered with a wheel cover to deter corrosion.

The Performance of Harley Davidson Wheels

There are very legitimate reasons for changing wheels to enhance performance as well.

Wheels are made out of steel or alloy and the steel wheels were the only ones that come stock on vehicles due to their cheaper price. The alloy wheels are usually lighter, which lets the suspension follow the terrain more closely, improving handling.
